Yappy changelog
Yappy updates itself in place from a signed appcast, verified against the publisher's Apple team ID before anything is installed. The current release is always available as JSON:

Agent Mode stops dying halfway through a job. A model stream that ended early, a rate limit, or a moment of contention on the plan's inference used to end the whole errand and leave you guessing which half had happened. Those now retry on their own. A genuinely spent allowance still stops, because retrying that would only make you wait longer for the same answer.
Long agent tasks also got several times cheaper to run. Each step used to re-buy the entire conversation so far, so a ten-step errand paid for its own history nine times over — which is why tasks started failing partway once the month's credits ran thin. The conversation is now cached between steps.
And one runaway task can no longer spend a whole month in a single turn: a turn that goes far past what any real errand needs now stops itself and says so.

Setup now shows you the key on a keyboard instead of naming it. "Right ⌥ Option key" was three names for one key on a machine that has two of them, and people held the left one, got silence, and skipped the step. You now see the corner of a MacBook keyboard with the key you want lit up in it, and it goes down when your finger does.
The last screen shows both keys together and, for the first time, says what double-tapping them does: hold ⌥ to dictate or double-tap for hands-free, hold ⌘ for Agent Mode or double-tap for the command bar.
Settings → Account now shows your plan, a bar for the credits you've used this month, and when they reset. Upgrading opens the plans directly.
Agent Mode stops claiming your memory is connected when it isn't. The system prompt and the memory tools used to answer that question separately and could disagree on the same install — the model was told memory was available and then handed no tools to reach it. Both now read one answer, and when memory can't run, the reason says which thing is missing instead of sending you back through a sign-in you already did.
Running out of plan credits mid-task no longer surfaces the provider's raw 403. Agent Mode recognises it, stops before burning another turn on the same wall, and offers the next tier — your task is checkpointed and resumes after you upgrade.

Live captions: your words appear in the notch while you are still saying them, one or two lines at a time, the word you are on picked out in white.
Recognition runs on your Mac and the caption is only ever drawn — the text that lands in your app still comes from Whisper and the cleanup pass, so the preview is free to be rough and is cleared the moment you let go of the key.
Off by default. It needs Speech Recognition access, so turn it on in Settings → Dictation and Yappy will ask on your next dictation.

Fixes for a fresh install: the practice screen now catches your first dictation, and the Screen Recording step puts Yappy in System Settings' list so there is actually a switch to flip.

Credential identity fix. The account key is now bound to the Google account it was minted for, sign-out clears it along with the cached entitlement, and an unstamped credential is settled against the server's answer rather than adopted on a guess. Shipped an hour after 0.4.16 because the failure mode was acting as somebody else.

The managed agent engine: a turn can run without Claude Code. Also the keycap onboarding, and two fixes the first live turns exposed — the [DONE] sentinel that failed a finished turn, and the workspace only the CLI path was creating.
